Gener8tor Grad OpenHomes Raises Seed Funds to Grow Staff, Launch App

Madison, WI-based OpenHomes, a startup that helps people buy and sell homes online, has raised $180,000 in seed funds that will help it expand staff and develop a mobile app, the company said today.

Investors include Milwaukee-based CSA Partners, Oshkosh, WI-based Angels on the Water, Wisconsin startup accelerator Gener8tor, and individuals including Mark Bakken, CEO of Madison-based Nordic Consulting. OpenHomes went through Gener8tor’s program last summer. It technically closed the seed funding round in December, but made the announcement today, as it seeks additional investment from BrightStar Wisconsin Foundation and prepares to hire more staff, OpenHomes founder and CEO Kelda Roys said.

The National Restaurant Association and EatStreet have released a free educational guide focusing on online ordering and emerging restaurant technology trends. EatStreet, an online and mobile food ordering service based in Wisconsin, is helping over 5,000 restaurants build out or improve their online ordering platforms.

Madison start-up EatStreet raises $6 million from investors

EatStreet Inc., a Madison company that supplies restaurants with software for handling online orders, has raised $6 million from outside investors in its latest funding round.

That brings the total amount the company has raised from outside investors to $8.65 million, said Matt Howard, EatStreet co-founder and chief executive.

EatStreet will use the money to enhance features on its iPhone and Android apps, improve its online food court, build mobile-optimized websites for customers and pioneer new digital marketing initiatives. An online food court allows people to type an address and find restaurants near them.

“I want to prove to the country that you can grow a very successful start-up here in Wisconsin,” Howard said.

New investors in the funding round are CSA Partners, the fund started by Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele, and Silicon Valley Bank.

Following GrubHub IPO, Online Food Ordering Platform EatStreet Raises $6 Million

Software startup picked for Google’s Demo Day

Document-management software startup Docalytics will attend a Google Inc. Demo Day in April, after winning a competition hosted by co-working space CoCo.

Businesses use Docalytics’ software to share PDF documents like white papers and see how prospective customers interact with them. The software can generate a heat map revealing which part of a document people spent the most time reading

The Minneapolis-based company raised about $319,000 in capital during the fourth quarter from Confluence Capital Partners, gener8or and CSA Partners.

B2B startup Docalytics is going to Google for Demo Day

Docalytics will be pitching at Google for feedback from a panel of investor judges, including Steve Case & MG Siegler. Raising capital is not out of the question. Runner-up Kidizen will enter a wild card pool and still has a shot at joining Docalytics between now and April. Pitches were also given tonight by OMG Transit, Apruve, and Nexting.

McDonald’s finds its sound for Winter Olympics push

It is soundtracked by New Zealand hip-hop group The Wyld, who were selected through a creative workshop hosted music-licensing agency Music Dealers. McDonald’s is said to be driving further engagement around the commissioned track through apps, downloads of different mixes, social media around the band and dedicated landing pages, according to the music business.

Additional workshops between Music Dealers and McDonald’s are being planned for the months after the Games. It signals a more strategic use of music for the business, which has not attempted a move on this scale since it launched its “I’m Lovin It” strapline” in 2003 in partnership with singer Justin Timberlake.
